Jump into July
Did you know that July is historically the warmest month of the year? After enjoying your fun in the sun, head back home and celebrate these fun food holidays!
I Forgot Day - July 2, 2025
Picture this, the evening is approaching and you just realized you forgot to take the meat for dinner out of the freezer. Let’s face it, we have all been there. I Forgot Day was created to acknowledge all the things you may have forgotten and encourage yourself and others to exercise forgiveness. While forgetting something important may be frustrating, it is not the end of the world.
There are so many delicious meals that can be made with ingredients you already have in your home that don’t need to be thawed out. This vegetable noodle soup recipe, for example, calls for dry pasta (or rice) and a variety of common vegetables such as carrots and onions. This meal is quick and easy, but also delicious and hearty. While you grab all of the needed ingredients, go ahead and take the meat out of the freezer for dinner tomorrow!
Junk Food Day - July 21, 2025
Yes, it’s July, and yes, you may be trying to preserve your “summer body,” but that is pretty hard to do when July holds National Junk Food Day! This holiday was coined to celebrate one of our most guilty pleasures: sweets, fast food, baked goods, and more! Junk food may not have the most nutritional value, but it sure is delicious!
One of the nation’s most valued junk food brands is Little Debbie. From Honey Buns to Cosmic Brownies, Little Debbie has been providing us with delicious snacks since 1960! To celebrate Junk Food Day, try making these Christmas Tree Truffles! You may be thinking, “why would I make a Christmas themed snack in July?” To that I say, celebrating Christmas in July is not exclusive to the Hallmark Channel!
Lasagna Day - July 29, 2025
Lasagna is a dish consisting of layers of pasta, cheese, tomato sauce, and often meat or vegetables. To many, this dish represents warmth, comfort, and family time. Lasagna is often made in large quantities to be shared amongst loved ones. Because of all of the amazing aforementioned qualities, it is no wonder that a whole day has been created to honor this dish!
Lasagna is a highly customizable meal! A variety of different meats, cheeses, and vegetables can be added to give this dish a unique flavor. If the family recipe has not yet been passed down to you, try making this lasagna dish. While it may be time consuming to make, your loved ones will thank you for putting in the time and effort to create a dish that is worthy to be gathered around!
National Cheesecake Day - July 30, 2025
Cheesecake: one of the richest, most creamy, and divine desserts to ever exist. Created by the ancient Greeks, improved by the Romans, and perfected by New Yorkers, this dessert stands the test of time! Cheesecake is incredibly versatile in terms of flavor as well as where it is served. Out of all the food holidays we have celebrated together, this one takes the (cheese)cake!
Unlike typical cakes that are light and airy, cheesecake offers a more dense and creamy texture. Cheesecakes come with a variety of inclusions such as fruity jams, chocolate chips, chopped nuts, caramel, and more! If you would like to try your hand at making one of these delicious desserts, here is a cheesecake recipe that can be adjusted to incorporate whatever inclusions your heart desires! I will leave you with some advice: make two cheesecakes, one for your family to share and one for you! When you take your first bite, you won’t want to put the fork down!
